Photograph of the original Highland Park Presbyterian Church building, designed by Architect Thornton Fitzhugh and constructed in 1905, Los Angeles, ca.1905. The building was later replaced in 1923 by the present Gothic structure designed by George Lindsey. This building was an excellent example of Mission Revival architecture. It features multicurved parapets, arched and semi-circular windows, and an arcade. A bell tower is visible (center left). The lawn in front is well manicured.
Photograph of the front door of Charles F. Lummis' rock home, "El Alisal,", ca.1900-1909. The iron-studded double wooden door bears the monogram "CFL" on the left door. Two windows are also visible in the river stone facade of the dwelling. There is no walkway. Before the threshhold grow grass and other small plants.
Photograph of panoramic view of Garvanza looking north from across the Arroyo Seco, ca.1906. A number of wheel tracks make their way through the cluster of trees in the foreground, which opens up on the district towards the center, where houses can be seen. Mountains and hilly terrain are visible in the background.
