Photograph caption dated December 4, 1951 reads, "Medical history is being made in this photo of some of 700 doctors watching a color television screening (arrow) of an actual operation. The surgery was performed at County General hospital. The doctors were seated in the convention hall at Shrine Auditorium, seven miles away. Most of them are taking notes as they watch the screen and listen to the surgeon describe what he is doing while he operates. Doctors here are American Medical Association conference."
